Litigation Para-legal, Solicitor Position

Our firm has a small but very busy team. We are a personable and down-to-earth practice that combines good quality work with a relaxed, friendly working environment.  Due to continued growth we are seeking two experienced Litigation Paralegals, Trainees, or Solicitors to join our expanding Litigation Departments on a permanent basis in our Llandovery, Carmarthen and Builth Wells, Powys branches.

We work in a traditional style and boast sensible billable time targets. As a litigation fee earner, you will be coming in to a warm desk with caseloads to progress. Having said that, you will be bringing/generating your own workload too. The post would ideally suit a paralegal with requisite litigation experience, or a NQ to 3 years’ PQE solicitor. You will be able to demonstrate the equivalent level of skills and desired competencies. This opportunity offers excellent potential for career progression for the right candidate. Your caseload will be based on Commercial, Civil and General litigation. We already hold a proven track record of successful claims. 

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have the following skills:-

  • Computer Literate - able to use Microsoft office (word, outlook, excel), office 365, Case management systems and Dragon (but not essential);

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as time management;

  • Fantastic networking skills and the ability to build a rapport with clients; 

  • Focused, meticulous and with great attention to detail;

  • Experience in commercial, civil and general litigation and disputes is preferred;

  • The ability to handle a high case load;

  • A competent understanding of the claims process;

  • A practical and proactive approach to solving problems;

  • Excellent client care skills are essential;

  • Available to start as soon as possible;

  • Able to manage a case load with minimal supervision;

  • Undertake discussions and negotiations with claimants/defendants, defendant’s insurers and claimant’s/defendant’s solicitors to pursue the rapid and appropriate settlement of cases and the apportionment of costs;

  • Undertake Court telephone Hearings to ensure progress is maximised and all actions have been undertaken to bring the case to settlement;

  • Provide timely and accurate maintenance of all case management, billing and management information systems to ensure completeness of records and aid business decision making;

  • Allocate funds to the appropriate client accounts as per agreed procedures to ensure the client and Bridger & Co Solicitors receive appropriate payment;

  • Deal with correspondence and telephone calls;

  • Undertaking periodic reviews of files in line with Client requirements;

  • Updating reports;

  • Meeting agreed performance targets;

  • Provide written updates by email or letter to clients detailing case activity to ensure that they receive up to date and accurate information about progress when requested; and

  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011
